Through all the psychological trauma and emotional heartbreak Wendy had no framework of personal growth or life experience to cope with it. Wendy was never taught how to cook, but she is very well read for her age, having loved books and used them as an escape following her sisters demise. Her education focused primarily on the development of social graces, a skill that has served no practical purpose in the Wilderness. Wendy was taken in 1914, several months after Abigail’s death.Īs it was improper for privileged girls to receive education outside the home Wendy was given basic lessons by a governess.
